I know I’ve been gone for a while but the hiatus was much needed. After graduation I had so much to do and I just got back from vacation in Cabo! So with all that behind me, I felt I needed to get back to shopping writing, which I love. Thanks to everyone who’s stopped by and please keep visiting! I have some fun things to share with you all. And as always, if I hear of a great sale on designer duds, I’ll tell you all about it right here!
I’m so glad to be done with final exams! Graduation weekend was excellent! It was great seeing family members and friends. The 3-day celebration was all about food, of course. I counted no less than 7 restaurants we visited, including Mi Cocina, Truluck’s and Spiral Diner- yum!
I hope you will continue to be patient- the job search is on full blast, and it’s a priority because trust me, I have student loans to repay!
I will try to periodically post some interesting tidbits until I can get back into the full swing of things.
Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen are the epitome of a fun, fashion-forward family who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. I have enjoyed watching them on the Real Housewives of NY, and I must say that this season, they are probably the best, and most positive, feature on the show right now!
Amid the pervasive catfights and pettiness, McCord and van Kempen have managed to keep their senses of humor, and their hearts, in tact, and it shows in their new parenting book “Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City.” They will be at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Park on Friday, April 16th, at 7:30pm to discuss their new book and sign copies for fans.
I just wanted to let you know that final exams are coming up and so posts may be a bit slower than usual- please hang in there with me and be patient, I haven’t forgotten about you.
I’ve been hearing rumors for almost a year now that Goodwill would open a high-end boutique somewhere in the area. Well, the wait is over. TODAY, grab your comfortable shoes and cash and get on over to Keller’s “GW Boutique.” Located at 750 Main St. Suite 125, this boutique features “Gap-quality” and above merchandise, including the hottest designers! Here’s what Pegasus News reported:
“The Keller location will feature gently used women’s clothing and accessories at fantastic prices. Unlike traditional Goodwill stores, GW Boutique will have an elegant, sophisticated look and will target fashion-forward women. Goodwill will pull from the top 1% in quality from its donations, selling only Gap-quality and above merchandise at the shop. The store will features labels like Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, theory, and even Dolce and Gabbana.” Read the complete article here.
You can also check out examples of what’s being offered at the boutique, courtesy of Good Morning Texas below:
GW Boutique offers you a way to go green, give back to charity and look good! So, happy shopping to all you fashion-forward, thread-conscious ladies in DFW!
Recently, I decided to visit teen consignment shop Plato’s Closet (ooh, do NOT roll your eyes!). To my surprise, the inventory had expanded considerably and included some designer pieces- a little Coach here, a little Juicy Couture there…
Any way, as I roamed the aisles, I spotted my favorite type of shoe, The Mighty Wedge. For those of us who are, ah hem, vertically challenged and also a little clumsy, The Mighty Wedge not only acts as a height enhancer, but also as a balance stabilizer. It’s the best of both worlds; you get the sexiness of a stiletto and the stability of a flat.
And what’s this? Michael Kors you say? On sale?! That’s right, baby.
So my shoe philosophy for today is, “Don’t let your nose keep your feet from finding happiness.” In other words, don’t turn up your nose (or look down your nose, you get the point) at the thought of visiting a consignment shop, even one that targets teens, because high-end shoes can be hiding in unexpected places.
Remember, one person’s trash is another’s treasure- don’t be uppity. Uh un, don’t be that person. So, may the shoe gods smile upon you the next time you’re out shopping.

I was saddened by the news of Alexander McQueen’s death…he was a true genius and visionary- not just an artist, but a creator and craftsman of dreams and fantasy. What a tragic loss, all too soon. He will surely be missed.
I am very humbled today as I celebrate Christmas with family and friends. I am so thankful for all that I have and hope to be able to bless others as I have been blessed.
I wish you all and your families a very Happy Holiday and hope that in 2010, you see all your hopes, dreams and wishes come true.
