Admittedly, I was getting my fashion fix from Bravo (Rachel Zoe, It’s A Brad Brad World, Dukes of Melrose), but now that those seasons have ended, I’ve migrated to the Style Network. Its line up includes XOX Betsey Johnson, old favorite Giuliana & Bill, and new favorite Resale Royalty.
While I’m not really a fan of the Betsey Johnson aesthetic, I admire her as a business woman and it’s interesting to see her partnership with Steve Madden in action. There seem to be some online whispers that the show is canceled, but according to the official Twitter account, the show is returning to Style Network this Thursday, June 13th.
As for Bill & Giuliana, their show provides a nice positive break from other reality tv hot messes, a la the Real Housewives franchise and Married to Medicine. I personally cannot wait for the new season, starting Tuesday July 16th, and I like Giuliana’s new clothing line G by Giuliana Rancic. Similar to Dukes of Melrose, I thought Resale Royalty would be rather boring, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Resale Royalty highlights St. Louis second-hand boutique Women’s Closet Exchange, owned by Sue McCarthy and her daughters. The show is produced by Rachel Zoe Productions. The boutique has a loyal following with women flocking through its doors to sell their designer wares and purchase others. Employees also participate “closet buys,” (like Dukes) where they visit the homes of fashionable socialites and shop their closets. This keeps store inventory fresh, and fashionistas happy. In the most recent episode, a client was offered $12,000 for her designer items, some of which she had never worn!
Finally, I appreciate the inside look at what it’s like to run a retail business, and have picked up tips in the first few episodes. If I’m ever in St. Louis, I’d definitely love to stop by the Women’s Closet Exchange.
So, if you’re needing a fashion fix, Style Network has you covered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
