My business partner, James, and I have been so hard at work setting up our online store, Vintage As A 2nd Language (V2ndL), that we’ve even worked vintage shopping into our vacations! Be sure to check out the V2ndL’s Grand Opening on Friday, June 15th (tomorrow!)- you’ll find a great selection of unique vintage clothing, home decor and accessories, some from my personal collection I’ve been amassing for years.
I was blown away by the selection and quality of the antiques I found and had to bring a few choice pieces home to Texas with me.
On to the shopping…
This place is sheer magic. A gem of a boutique with a soul all its own, Antique Sugar feels somehow cozy and vast at the same time. The selection of clothing was impressive, and the men’s section rivaled the women’s in size and variety, which is rare. I didn’t pick up anything at this store, but not for lack of choices or interest; I simply ran out of time!
Antique Gatherings came highly recommended. It reminded me of the Montgomery Street Antique Mall in Fort Worth, TX, a favorite spot of mine. There was row after glittering row of jewelry and chotchkes, nooks and crannies with furniture and clothing a la Mad Men. But I got lucky. I didn’t have to go very far to find accessories I just had to have. Front row, just past the check out counter, I found a gorgeous bracelet with a green stone and a tribal necklace/earring set that were to die for.
Antique Trove was another boutique that Scottsdale locals recommended over and over again. The best part of this shopping excursion was finding booths with unbelievable sales. Some booths had sales from 20% to 50% to 90% off! I brought several items home, including some beautiful bracelets and a one-of-a-kind necklace.
James and I are super-excited to share our love of vintage fashion with you. These lovely items just might make it onto the virtual shelves of Vintage As A 2nd Language at some point; be sure to check out our first offerings at tomorrow’s Grand Opening!
